In the past, before mass communication and globalisation, a person’s frame of reference was his peer group and the people he came into personal contact with.  Today, our peer group is still our primary frame of reference, but now there are also people we know of and know about, like celebrities. We come to know about these people and they can exert just as strong an influence on us as our peer group does. First the world is brought into our lives through the internet and TV: amounting to 1385 messages a day. Because our peer group is subjected to the… Read the rest

Suzhou, the cradle of Wu Culture, is a city with a history of more than 2,500 years, tracing back to the later Shang Dynasty. Suzhou is located in the south of Jiangsu province, some 50 miles west of Shanghai, along the old Grand Canal. While talking about Suzhou, the old saying mentions it as a “Paradise on the Earth” or the “East Venice of the World”, referring to its natural beauty, classical gardens, bridges and waters, traditional operas and soft dialect tone.

Situated in the downstream of Yangtze River Drainage Basin and Yangtze River Delta economic zone, Suzhou has been… Read the rest

We took many China tours in the past years and enjoyed each of them. When we came first to China, we were with a big group that was a popular way of traveling then, but when we returned to China for a second trip, we decided to take a private tour that went on our way. We chose Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou as our preferable destinations that our friend in Shanghai recommended highly. We booked our trip with a China travel agent that turned out having arranged our tour capably and perfectly!

We got into… Read the rest

Shopping is women’s painskiller. That’s absolutely true. The only question is what’s the magic shopping held for women, and what kind of relief women could get from shopping? Is it a healing process or just a pure presure to own something?

A woman, no matter how strong she is, needs to feel cherished and wanted. unfortunately, in a society where criticisms are more generously given to the female than appreciation, such emotional needs are seldom satisfied. A woman’s growth is almost an endless fight to survive through blows to her confidences. A pretty woman is often regarded as empty-minded, a… Read the rest

I never considered opera was just an art of “Grannies”,and a considerable amount of young people take it as one of their favorite hobbies. Some can even sing it quite well.I remember that my mother were a fan of Shaoxing opera, she always repeated the lines from the famous “A dream of red mansion”which echos in my mind time to time.I love Shaoxing opera as well, for poetic lyrics and euphonious rhythm, also graceful actors and actresses.

Shaoxing Opera gives one’s inner heart a different feeling,as a kind of opera among operas originated from south of the Yangtze River,it has its own… Read the rest

We’re  off to Tralee this coming Friday, 7th May with Fresh Air coming from Adrian Crowley, Hulk and Chequerboard.  Performing live in St. John’s Church on Ashe Street in Tralee we’re there in partnership with Club Head Bang Bang and live visuals, as always, will come from Donal.

I’m extra excited ’cause I finally get to meet Keith and the brilliant Club Head Bang Bang crew, who I’ve worked with on gigs before but never actually managed to meet.  They are such a deadly bunch. Nothing is too much trouble and they create such special gigs.  They’ve found… Read the rest

Okay so I am a total slacker too.  So much has happened since I last updated. A ne wyear has started, the holidays have come and gone, and Nanny passed away. Her funeral was yesterday. And it was the first time I have ever been to a funeral or have had anyone close to me die. It was hard. And I had never seen grampi cry before. And when when we were at the hospital visiting Nanny the first time before everything went horribly wrong, she was very scared and she cried a lot to, which was also the
